This is one of South Africa's sexiest white wines. It's not cheap (nor is it showy) but it's worth it. All the ingredients for gorgeousness are there: famous Backsberg, low-yielding vines and small yet hugely expensive French barrels. So heady and heaving with velvet-textured apricot, peach, lemon, cinnamon and hazelnut flavours it's hard not to guzzle it down in one. Virgin Wines (2003 vintage)
