Tasting Notes / Comments: | Domaine Capairou is that great rare thing - an affordable Viognier with the rich aromas and rounded flavours that have made Viognier so famous. From its Condrieu Rhône heartland.
This beguiling, intensely aromatic estate find provides compelling evidence that "There isn't much on this earth to eat or drink that smells so good" - Andrew Jefford, The Evening Standard.
It's made by Richard Osborne, a Viognier devotee and among the first Australian winemakers to make his mark in southern France. The Domaine lies in a cool enclave between the Canal du Midi and the historic, walled city of Carcassonne - and is one of the few areas outside Condrieu where Viognier excels.
A profusion of aromas - honeysuckle, peaches and apricot - and fresh, generously round melon flavour. Laithwaites (2001 vintage)
