Tasting Notes / Comments: | A pale green gold wine, elegant in style, clean and fruity with rich mouth feel, oak notes, and a well-defined fresh peach and honey character, typical of a middle-of-the road Viognier style. Virginia Wine Guide (2001 vintage)
The 2001 Michael Shaps Vioginer is a rich flavorful wine with aromatic qualities that make Viognier such a food friendly wine. The bouquet is mostly apricot, though hints of baked pineapple and toasted oak round out the aromas. On the palate there is a great balance of citrus and a slight vanilla component. The wine has richness that is a common uniqueness in Viognier wines. It hints sweet on the mid-palate, but finishes dry and lingering on the back palate. This wine will develop nicely for the next three years. Drink now through 2005. King Family Vineyards (2001 vintage)
