Tasting Notes / Comments: | Yves Cuilleron, Pierre Gaillard and François Villard are all leaders in their field when it comes to Condrieu and the wonderful Viognier grape from which it is made. Fortunately for us, they listened to Georges Vernay, the man who saved the Viognier vine from oblivion. Their 1999 Condrieu, in accordance with the Rhône tradition of giving wines a local nickname, is named after the small channel dug between the rows of vines. "La Chambée" has all the subtleties of which Viognier is capable : nuances of ripe apricot and mock orange combined with the sweetness of crème brûlée, just gorgeous!. wineandco.com (2000 vintage)
A stunning wine with a subtle nose and complex palate – dry with layers of spice, peachy fruit, a little dried apricots, a touch of honey and amazing length. Corks of Cotham (1999 vintage)
