Tasting Notes / Comments: | Dry, medium-bodied white wine with lovely floral and fruit flavors. Aromas of flowers and peaches are fulfilled in the mouth, ending in a long finish. Extended grape skin/juice contact, barrel fermentation, and aging and pinches of new barrel and malolactic fermentation add to the complexity of this wine Concannon Winery (1998 vintage)
There are a lot of Californian Viogniers and we are still in the process of discovering them. This is one that came out of the blue. It is a clear yellow wine - quite a strong colour. The nose is fruity and very strongly oaked with thick vanilla aromas invading the nose, but still leaving room for that hint of honey. To taste it reminded us of dried apricots that have that sharp, acid edge and even a touch of bitterness. We felt that the wine finished fairly abruptly. 'Enjoying Viognier' (1998 vintage)
