Tasting Notes / Comments: | This was the last vintage tended by Phillipe Laurent before his untimely death. It has the unmistakeable nose of Gramenon - plenty of honey. The light golden colour is accompanied by a cloudiness- the result of leaving the wine unfiltered. The dry apricot taste produces less length and complexity than the '98. This was a difficult harvest and few cases were produced. The restaurant where we tasted only received a fifth of their normal supply! Still worth the money. 'Enjoying Viognier' (1999 vintage)
Here is a wine with quite a strong golden colour, with a full and sweet (almost honey) nose, exhibiting what is a classic Viognier taste of apricots and ripe pears. It has a long, slightly bitter finish. It stands well beside Condrieu. See the write up in December 2001 Wine of the Month. 'Enjoying Viognier' (1998 vintage)
Deep in colour with a perfume of apricots, peaches and blossom. Beautifully made, very complex with a wonderful mouthfeel and extraordinary length, this is really exciting winemaking. Compendium Wines (1997 vintage)
